Translators to be Provided at Parole Board Hearings

BRONX- State Senator Gustavo Rivera announced that legislation, which he co-authored with Assemblymember Luis Sepulveda, has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. This law will seek to ensure due process for incarcerated individuals whose first language is not English and who are hearing impaired by providing a certified translator at parole board interviews. This bill passed the New York State Senate on June 9 and the New York State Assembly on June 15.

"I commend Governor Cuomo for signing this bill into law in an effort to ensure non-English speaking incarcerated individuals are able to fully understand and participate in their parole board interviews by addressing them in their native language," said State Senator Gustavo Rivera. "This law will not only ensure that our State's parole board process becomes fairer for all New Yorkers regardless of their origin or disability, but it is also another step in our continuing efforts to reform our State's br…

Dinowitz Steps Down for Pay Problems
By Robert Press
POLITICS- Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz the Bronx Democratic County Committee Chair is now the former Bronx Democratic County Committee Chair.

Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner is now the new Bronx Democratic County Committee Chair, while Assemblyman Marcos Crespo remains the Bronx Democratic County Leader. The reason for Dinowitz stepping down has to do with the fact that in his 22 years in office he has not received a pay raise.
Due to restrictions on what outside income can be earned by a County Committee Chair now, it would be unwise of the assemblyman to continue in that position. As a long time elected official Assemblyman Dinowitz still has lots of clout, and that was the only reason he told me why he stepped down.

When Fidel Visted the Bronx

How Castro Affected NYC Politics By Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz District 32 Bronx County, New York
You should know that it has been 21 years since Cuba’s Communist Dictator Fidel Castro visited Bronx County. To be more exact, the Dictator’s visit to Bronx County happened on Monday, October 23, 1995.

It is important for you to know that 21 years later, after reading a book titled “Knockout: Fidel Castro Visits The South Bronx” written by my friend, Julio Pabón, I have learned that it was not Congressman José Serrano who was the author, the coordinator and the consummator, but rather, it was Julio Pabón, according to the book he just published, who was the one to get Fidel Castro to come to the Bronx.

Could you imagine, my dear reader, for all these 20-plus years, I had believed that it was Congressman Serrano who was responsible for the Dictator’s visit to Bronx County?

As a matter of fact, during the Dictator’s visit, I organized and participated in various demonstrations against Fidel Castro a…

Social Media Show Off Convicts Murderer

Dimbulb Posts Pick of Murder Weapon with Unique Tattoo on Facebook

BRONX- Facebook is fast becoming law enforcement’s best friend with crooks posting evidence online. A Bronx man was convicted of murder after he posted a photo himself holding the murder weapon with his unique tattoo on social media.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a 21-year-old Bronx man has been convicted by a jury of the top charge of second-degree Murder in the 2013 shooting of a 19-year-old man in the Tremont section of the Bronx. He was also convicted of gun possession based on a photograph of him holding the murder weapon posted on Facebook.
Clark said, “A Bronx jury has convicted this defendant of shooting a young man during a dispute. They also found him guilty of the gun charge, after being presented with a photo he posted on Facebook of him holding the weapon. This sends a message to those who espouse the culture of guns and violence that it is not tolerated in the Bronx.”
Clark said the d…

POLITICS- A Bronx politician and an aide have pleaded guilty for committing voter fraud in a 2014 New York State Assembly primary race and were sentenced to Conditional Discharge.

District Attorney Clark said, “The electoral process is an important part of any democracy and any actions attempting to undermine its integrity must and will be prosecuted by this office.”
Hector Ramirez, 61, who ran in several races for New York State Assembly, pleaded guilty, November 22, 2016, before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Steven Barrett to second-degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, a D Felony. Ana Cuevas, 57, pleaded guilty to Disorderly Conduct. Both defendants were sentenced to a Conditional Discharge and as a condition for his plea, Ramirez will not be permitted to seek public office for the three-year duration of his Conditional Discharge.
According to the investigation, during Ramirez’s 2014 run for State Assembly in the Bronx’s 86th District,…

Amazon Concerned About Flood of Negative Reviews for Megyn Kelly Book

ENTERTAINMENT- Amazon believes the negative reviews flooding the online retailer for Megyn Kelly’s book are part of an organized protest against the TV host turned Trump critic.

The LA Times reports that over 100 negative reviews for Kelly’s book “Settle for More” were posted on Amazon and were linked from a pro-Trump Reddit forum.
No word from Amazon or the publisher of how many copies of Kelly’s book have actually been sold.
Many of the negative reviews disappeared from Amazon today. It is unclear if the company scrubbed the remarks.

Pols Hand Out Turkeys to Needy

BRONX- In advance of this year’s Thanksgiving holiday, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has partnered with numerous public and private institutions to give back to neighborhoods and families throughout the borough, and to help Bronxites who need our help.

“This Thanksgiving season, we have dedicated our time and resources to give back to The Bronx, distributing turkeys and food supplies to families around the borough,” said Borough President Diaz. “We want to make sure that as many families as we can possibly help will have a warm meal to share during this Thanksgiving season.”
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted his annual Thanksgiving luncheon for seniors at the Findlay House senior living complex. Almost 200 members were served a hot Thanksgiving meal by Borough President Diaz and Assembly Member Latoya Joyner, provided by Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill.
“Seeing the seniors laugh and enjoy a hot meal warms my soul,” said Borough…

DeNiro Changes Tune on Trump

DeNiro Change of Heart or Worry Over the Bottom Line
POLITICS- Robert DeNiro curbed his “Taxi Driver” style rant on Donald Trump whom he wanted to “punch… in the face.” Critics say concern over the bottom line of his new play may have played a role.
Instead the aging actor adopted a more diplomatic approach to the President-Elect, the Hill is reporting.
“I would only say that we’re all hoping, waiting and hoping, that he will lead the country in a way that’ll benefit everyone and benefit our neighbors around the world,” De Niro told ITK.
It is unclear if the change of heart came after backlash from “Hamilton” stars ranting to VP-Elect Mike Pence in the audience. Although most Manhattanites applauded the “discussion,” tourists expressed outrage on social media.

DeNiro is co-directing a musical version of his movie “A Bronx Tale.” No word if there was concern that a ranting Bobby D may impact ticket sales when it opens on December 1. The play is geared toward a blue collar …

Giant Mistake Beckham!

There’s More to Bronx Than Jiggle Joints- Pol

BRONX- If NY Giant Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t go to the strip club and instead took in the sites he wouldn’t have lost his diamond pinky ring, so says a elected official.
Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. thinks the star wide receiver should have gone to the many attractions in the Bronx instead of going to the notorious Sin City Cabaret.
Diaz has written a letter to NFL stars Beckham and Von Miller, linebacker for the Denver Broncos, regarding the pair’s recent, highly publicized visit to the notorious Sin City, a strip club located in the South Bronx.
“I would like to thank you for your recent visit to the great borough of The Bronx,” wrote Borough President Diaz, who doubles as the biggest New York Giants fan in The Bronx. “I appreciate that you both took time out of your very busy schedules to pay us a visit. However, you could have picked a better place.”
In addition to the letter, Borough President Diaz also mailed Mr. Beckham and Mr. Mille…

Dominican Backlash Against Sessions for AG

Pol Blasts Trump Pick of Sessions for AG
POLITICS- Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. issued the following statement regarding the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions as U.S. Attorney General:
“If President-Elect Donald Trump truly wants to reunite a fractured nation, his selection of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions to serve as Attorney General is a huge step in the wrong direction.
“Throughout his career, Senator Sessions has exhibited insensitivity, if not outright hostility, to many of the vast array of ethnic groups that make up the beautiful mosaic that is America. In particular, his past statements about our Dominican population, made on the floor of the Senate, are particularly galling. Senator Session’s claims that Dominicans contribute nothing to our society are categorically false. Hundreds of thousands of hardworking individuals of Dominican descent call my borough and this city their home, and they deserve more respect than that.
“The Bronx has the largest community of Domi…

Broadway Babies Continue Trump Attack
(Photo for American Idiot the musical)
ENTERTAINMENT- Broadway and Hollywood continued their attack on Donald Trump with most viewers tuning out. The rantings came during the ratings starved American Music Awards (AMA).

“Alternative” rock band Green Day, whose Broadway musical about the Bush Administration “American Idiot” flopped, carried out an anti-Trump rant at the American Music Awards. During a performance at the televised awards show the band chanted,  “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!”
Once known as an edgy alternative band whose album was relevant during the Iraq War, the band’s edge has gone as dull as Bruce Springsteen singing for Hillary. The band lost street cred when they turned their political statement into a way to milk fans selling $100+ seats to a lavish Broadway musical version of their album “American Idiot.”
Green Day’s political statement comes on the heels of fellow Great White Way alum Hamilton cast’s rant to VP-elect Mike Pe…

Megyn Kelly Ticks Off Trump Supporters Again

Claims ‘Supportive’ TV Hosts Gave Trump Questions in Advance
POLITICS- Megyn continues to anger Trump supporters with claims that TV hosts pulled a Donna Brazille and gave Trump a heads up to certain controversial questions.
While hawking her book “Settle for More” Kelly spoke with Howard Kurtz. The Media Buzz host asked about remarks in her book that Trump “acted” along with certain supportive TV hosts over controversial questions. In her book Kelly said these TV hosts “would arrange with Trump in advance to ask him certain critical questions or do certain hits on him so they would appear to have some credibility.”
There is no love lost between Kelly and Trump supporters who have been critical of her since she hosted the primary debate in which she sandbagged Trump about remarks about women.
Kelly’s people have been blaming Trump supporters for the overwhelmingly bad reviews on Amazon for her book.
Fellow Fox host Bill O’Reilly called out Kelly for her claims of sexual harassment at the …

School Cop Arrested Man for Parking in His Spot

Cop Charged with False Arrest
BRONX- A school safety officer has been charged with falsely arresting a Bronx man during an arguement over a parking spot.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a New York Police Department School Safety Officer has been indicted for falsely arresting a Bronx man in retaliation for a dispute over parking near an NYPD office in the Tremont section of the Bronx.
Clark said, “This police officer allegedly abused his authority to settle a petty score in a months-long parking feud between residents and officers assigned to the School Safety Division office on Arthur Avenue. He is a 15-year veteran of the NYPD and should have known that such unprofessional conduct undermines the public’s trust in law enforcement.”
District Attorney Clark said that the defendant, William Stanley, 43, a School Safety Officer, has been charged with two counts of first-degree Offering a False Instrument for Filing, two counts of second-degree Offering a False Instrume…
